Chicago Astronomer Public Observation Sessions
Questions about participating at
Chicago Astronomer events
Joining our events is easy, but there are just some simple rules to follow for a great time under the stars...
All Chicago Astronomer events are free of charge. We like to say “The skies are free…and so are the Views”…
Absolutely not.
Our Astronomer crew will set-up our personal telescopes for you to look through and connect with the cosmos. But, if you do have a telescope and would like instruction on how to use it, bring it to our events and we will guide you.
Kids are especially welcomed and their inherent curiosity is encouraged. We do ask parents to keep a close watch on the their children. Do not allow kids to run around the observation site, play ball or handle the equipment. Our equipment is delicate and expensive and we will correct those that violate this simple rule.
Absolute not.
The toxic fumes from smoking & vaping will attack the glass surfaces of our telescopes and harm the coatings. We will instruct those who smoke/vape, to practice outside of the area.
We love dogs!
But not around sensitive our equipment. Please maintain distance between your pet and the observation site. Have someone watch your pet while taking turns enjoying the views through our telescopes.
We love dogs…!
But, not around our equipment. Please maintain distance between your pet and the immediate observational area. Take turns with a friend who can wait with your dog while you enjoy the views of the Universe.
No.
Chicago Astronomer events are Family Friendly and we have no tolerance for those who may cause disruptions.
We make all attempts for our guests to be comfortable and with easy access to our telescopes. We have ladders and step stools for our fans to reach, but, we cannot physically assist with accessibility.
Bring your families as we guide you across the cosmos
